Kate Winters has won immortality.

But if she wants a life in the Underworld with Henry, she’ll have to fight for it.

Becoming immortal wasn’t supposed to be the easy part. Though Kate is about to be crowned Queen of the Underworld, she’s as isolated as ever. And despite her growing love for Henry, ruler of the Underworld, he’s becoming ever more distant and secretive. Then, in the midst of Kate’s coronation, Henry is abducted by the only being powerful enough to kill him: the King of the Titans.

As the other gods prepare for a war that could end them all, it is up to Kate to save Henry from the depths of Tartarus. But in order to navigate the endless caverns of the Underworld, Kate must enlist the help of the one person who is the greatest threat to her future.

Henry’s first wife, Persephone.

It has been six months since Kate left Eden and her husband, Henry. It is part of their deal. During the winter months Kate will remain by his side, helping him rule the underworld…but come the spring she must leave. Do all the things she wants to do.

Kate expects a warm welcome home as she returns to the palace that is now hers and the husband she has missed terribly. But instead she walks straight into trouble that no one really seems to want to talk about. And her first exchange with Henry? It could have gone better.

Kate’s best friend, James, keeps assuring her it isn’t too late. She still has time to back out and leave the Underworld. But leaving would mean Henry would lose his throne and begin to fade. But what no one seems to understand is she wants to be there…even if it seems like Henry doesn’t share Kate’s ever-growing love.

In the middle of her coronation, Kate comes face to face with the one thing the gods are afraid of – the one thing that can destroy them. Their maker, the King of the Titans. But Kate was never one to back down from a fight, and when Henry is taken from her, she vows to get him back. Even if it means asking the one person she never wanted to meet for help. Persephone.

Goddess Interrupted takes us on a guided tour of the Underworld and each person’s personal afterlife. We cower at the Gates of Cronus’s prison, lie in wait for Henry at night and hope he chosen Kate over Persephone, finally. We bask in the beauty of Adonis and stand up alongside Kate against her foes.

I adore any book that can make me feel. Aimee Carter blew the lid off my emotions as I read this amazing book in one sitting. I am waiting with bated breath for the next in the series, and have a feeling it is going to be an agonising wait!
